ISSUES
Protect & Defend Democracy
We face a serious threat to our Constitutional order.
Across the district, people agree: we must protect our democracy. This is not partisan—it’s American. If elected, I will pass a Voter Bill of Rights to:
Ensure voters choose their representatives, not vice versa. Gerrymandering is an issue across the country. We must ensure that districts are created by independent committees in a manner that reflects voters overall.
Guarantee equal poll access with clear voter ID rules that are easy to find, consistent, fair, and straightforward. Ensuring that every citizen has ballot access is essential to a healthy democracy.
Healthcare
Our healthcare system is broken.
A friend died of heart disease at 56 because she couldn’t afford treatment. This cannot continue to happen. Once elected, I will:
Lower drug costs by letting Medicare negotiate prices. Drug prices are out of control. Allowing our medical systems to fight for fair pricing for our citizens is an important step towards battling the cost of healthcare.
Cut admin costs with a universal coding system. Currently, every health insurance company operates under a different billing system. This requires that every medical facility train their staff in multiple systems. It also increases the likelihood of errors being made when seeking insurance reimbursements. A universal coding system will eliminate administrative waste.
Economy
Our neighbors are struggling to make ends meet as wages fall and the cost of living rises.
We will rebuild a strong economy. When elected, I am going to:
Fight for higher minimum wage and union rights, so full-time work lifts you out of poverty. Workers need as much political power as corporations.
Remove the Social Security tax cap on the ultra-wealthy to better fund Social Security. The number of workers is about to be outpaced by the number of retirees. We must boost Social Security revenue in order to maintain the health of the system.
End the trade war to lower inflation and boost economic growth. Tariffs are taxes on us. They increase the cost of goods from other countries and also the components used to make goods at home.
Education
Our education system is in crisis.
When I was a public schools teacher, I encountered multiple students who simply lacked needed support due to overwhelmed programs. Every child deserves quality education. When elected, I will:
Promote critical thinking over test-focused teaching. I will eliminate mandates for high stakes testing that have harmed our schools and students.
Expand access to interventions, ensuring every student gets the support they need. Empowering parents, students, and educational professionals to implement supports for students that need them will ensure that all students reach their potential.
Public Safety
In Texas, emergency preparedness is dangerously inadequate.
It is causing utility outages during storms and preventable deaths near flood-prone rivers—putting children and seniors at greatest risk. Once elected, I will:
Mandate advanced warning systems in disaster prone areas with local grants. We will save lives by making sure our local communities meet requirements for warning systems that can reach everyone.
Require backup power for critical utility services, with grants to support implementation, so that our utilities systems do not fail in severe weather.
Reproductive Rights
The right to plan your family is essential.
My sister-in-law had to make a dangerous trip to Mexico for affordable IVF because it’s too costly here in the USA. When elected, I will:
Require insurance companies to cover any family planning treatment as they cover other medical needs. Women and men require medical care related to family planning, and it must be treated as a necessity.
Repeal the Comstock Act to ensure access to essential medications for all people attempting to plan for their family’s future. In this modern day and age, medication is often delivered via mail. I will ensure that all people have access to necessary medications by protecting mail delivery.
